Dalarna
Dalarna is the 'wild west' of Sweden, with lakes and mountains. The farmers of this region helped the later king Gustaf Vasa to push back the Danish occupiers and lay the foundations of modern Sweden. It is also home of the Dala Häst, the wooden horses that are maybe Sweden's most known symbol and export product. And of Unesco World Heritage Falun, which you may or may not know from the typical brownred pain of typical wooden Swedish houses.
